测量空气温度有很多方式，除了用热电偶还有电阻，电子，煤油水银温度计等。单从结果角度看，都没有什么差异，有些可能还更准。用热电偶的好处，可能就是和SBI测烟道空气温度的传感器一致，保持某种统一的‘误差’。
信仰角度看，SBI仪器是由复杂的传感器构成，如果最简单的温度测量都和标准要求的不一样，很难说其他东西有多少一致性。
4.7.1 热电偶，为符合GB/T 16839.1要求、直径为(2±1)mm的K型热电偶,用以测量进入燃烧室空气的环境温度。热电偶应安置在燃烧室的外墙上,与小推车开口间的距离不超过0.20m且离地板的高度不超过0.20m。
